Mind, Body, and Spirit

Limpias
A Spiritual Cleansing
A limpia is a spiritual and energetic cleansing that is a pillar of practice in Curanderismo. A limpia uses many different traditional modalities to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit of any heavy or negative energies that may be holding the person back from reaching their highest potential.

Platicas and Spiritual Guidance
A conversation for healing
A platica is a very important part of Curanderismo practice and is a form of a limpia through conversation. A platica allows the person to purge any negative emotions, thoughts, or feelings by speaking them. In return, I will offer spiritual guidance, wisdom, and intuitive messages to guide the client’s soul back to themselves.

Remedios y Yerbas
Natural Remedies and Herbs
The remedios I offer are all homemade, natural, and traditional remedies to support your healing and well being. These are made from locally grown herbs and are blessed and charged with healing properties using traditional Curanderismo methods. Schedule a consultation to determine what remedio will best support your journey.

House and Space Limpias
Cleansing your environment
This is a traditional energetic cleansing of your home, car, office, or any space in your life that could use an energetic pick-me-up. Using modalities of Curanderismo, this type of limpia clears out any negative or stagnant energies to create the best environment for your healing and growth.

Who I Am
My Background
My full name is Erica Angelica Sophia Vigil Flores, Ancient Obsidian, RN, BSN. Ancient Obsidian is my medicine name given to me by my Maestras. I grew up in Chimayó, New Mexico and I am proud to still call this home. My ancestors are from many lands, but they are dominantly the Tewa people of the Tsi Mayoh mountain in Chimayó. This land is known to have sacred healing powers. I have been studying and practicing Curanderismo for several years, which includes 2 years of study at the University of New Mexico, from which I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I have a background of specialty nursing in both Labor and Delivery and Hospice. Aside from traditional healing, I also have practiced traditional Spanish Colonial artwork since I was five years of age and now I found my specialty with retablos. I plan to follow in the footsteps of my great-grandfather, mother, and other family members and enter my work into the Spanish Market. With my background in nursing, deep roots within the Chimayó community, my ancestral knowledge, and the calling to heal, it is my mission to combine these gifts to better serve my community and all those who wish to heal themselves.
Mission
You are the Medicine
Our ancestors had the ability and the knowledge to heal themselves, therefore, it’s my life’s mission to remind you of your own ability to heal yourself and to guide you through this process. Through art, connecting to my roots, and traditional Curanderismo practice, I was able to find healing in my own life. I want to share with you what I have learned to empower and remind you that you are the medicine. Get in touch to find out more.

FAQs
I’m Here for You
Are the retablos on your site for sale?
All of the retablos on this website are only a showcase of the pieces I have made in the past. Contact me to place a special order for the retablo that you would like for me to make. Each retablo I make is unique; no two are the same. I find one specific piece of wood that shows me the image to paint before I paint it.
What do you use to make your retablos?
All of my retablos are hand painted with acrylic paint and gold leaf. I use a range of different types of wood. Some common wood species I use are applewood, cedar, pine, or oak.
What should I expect from a limpia ?
A limpia is a way to release all that is no longer serving you. A limpia typically starts with a platica, or a conversation about what you are feeling and what you would like to release. During the limpia, I will assess to determine which modalities and tools will be most helpful to guide you in releasing. This can be through water therapy, herbs, teas, stone work, massage, energy work, sound therapy, and many other healing techniques.
Do you offer medical advice or services?
No, I do not offer any medical advice or services but only ancestral knowledge.
Do you charge for your healing services?
I have chosen to practice traditionally, which means that I don’t charge for my services but I can accept donations that are offered.
Where can I see images of your retablos?
Go to the top right corner of the homepage and click on the three bars. Then, select “Shop”. There, you will find my portfolio of artwork.
